MToW PRESENTS "DIRECTOR'S SHOWCASE"

MToW PRESENTS
Director’s Showcase
Performances: Jun 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, 2025
at the Riverside Playhouse

The New Director’s Showcase is an exciting celebration of emerging talent in theater. This unique production features two distinct one-act plays, each directed by a first-time director stepping into the spotlight. Designed to highlight fresh perspectives and creative voices, the showcase offers a diverse theatrical experience that combines bold storytelling with innovative staging.

For audiences, The New Director’s Showcase is a rare opportunity to witness the early steps of promising directors and experience the energy of their first creative endeavors. Join us for an evening of fresh ideas, inspired performances, and the future of theater coming to life on stage!

“The Actor’s Nightmare” by Christopher Durang.

An accountant, having casually wandered onstage, is informed he must immediately replace an injured actor, yet none of the cast seems sure of what play is being performed. Private Lives? Hamlet? A Man for All Seasons? As he fumbles through one missed cue after another the actors shift from one play to the next, by which time the accountant has lost all sense of contact with his fellow performers.

“The Zoo Story” by Edward Albee.
A man sits reading on his favorite Central Park bench. There enters a second man. He is a young, unkempt and undisciplined vagrant where the first is neat, ordered, well-to-do and conventional. The vagrant is a soul in torture and rebellion. He longs to communicate so fiercely that he frightens and repels his listener, slowly bringing his victim down to his own level.

Important notice: Due to ongoing YMCA construction on our site, we’re sorry to report there will be no ADA access for the June 26th through June 28th performances.  Parking for these 3 shows will only be available behind the Coast Hotel on the south side of the playhouse (at the bottom of 2nd St near the railroad tracks), and entry will be up three steps to the back door of the playhouse. An attendant will be posted there to guide you. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we all navigate this temporary situation. If you require ADA access, please consider the performances on the 19th, 20th, and 21st. Thank you.
